Hello  everyone!!

This week I was assigned the translator role. The words that I have chosen are quite related with the topic we are, researching, studying, and comparing. All of them are forming part of the same semantic field, but I will appoint through my definitions, some differences that should be noted. I  will also focus the translation on the educational field.

In order to enrich you with more words in English I will also write all the definition's synonyms and antonyms.

Integration.

It is when You give every child the type of education needed in the least restrictive environment, abandoning clinical or diagnostic labels.Which means leave the labels and meet the needs.

Therefore, integration is not  an indiscriminated return of all children with special needs to regular classes. Nor allow children in special schools remain in regular classrooms without the support services required.

Synonyms: fusion, meeting, incorporation, unification, blending, mixing.
Antonyms:  disintegration, separation, maladjustment.

Equity.
Is is the quality of being fair or impartial. When opportunities are the same for everyone even if they are different.  We all are not equal, and equity is the way to provide equal resources for different people.

Synonyms: fairness, impartiality, objectivity, justice, moderation.

Antonyms: partiality, injustice.

Inclusion.

It is a human right by law personhood. Inclusive approach in the classroom includes:

• It focuses on the classroom, classroom-student characteristics.

• Teaching learning factors are discussed.

• Troubleshooting collaborative teacher and peers.
• Strategies for teachers to have the capacity to adapt.

• Classroom environment that promotes and supports adaptation regularly.

Synonyms: introduction, incorporation, installation, penetration, placement.
Antonyms: Removal, Foreclosure, deletion.

Segregation.

Segregation is the different distribution of individuals in a specific reference-ethnic, social ... feature - with negative effects for certain categories of individuals. In other words, is when people belonging to a particular group (socioeconomic status, race, sex, religion, physical abilities or intellectual) do not mix with others different from them. Segregation either way, has consequences, probably in terms of inequality and unequal learning opportunities.

Synonyms: breakdown, secession, separation, discrimination, , dislocation
ecretion, sweating, evacuation, perspiration, dripping, discharge, separation, disunity, disseverance.
Antonyms:   unite, add, integrate, host.

Discrimination.

Discrimination is a situation in which a person or group is treated unfavorably because of prejudice, usually because the discriminated people, (children in this case) belong to a distinct social category; It should also be distinguished from positive discrimination (which is differentiation and recognition). Among those categories are race, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic rank, age and disability.

Synonyms: unfairness, bias, bigotry, hatred, prejudice, partiality, intolerance, favouritism, hate, race hate, racial hatred, racial discrimination, injustice, narrow-mindedness, provincialism, racism, racialism, sexism. 

Antonyms: Equality, Equity, Inclusion, integration.

These words have great social impact nowadays, and we should all work towards the integration, inclusion and equity. We also should be able to avoid at all costs discrimination and segregation  that  will undoubtely lead our society to a narrow-minded path of ancient mentality.

Having thoroughly searched the definitions of words that although similar, have different connotations, I enclose the pages  where I have extracted the relevant information.

This week I have been the translator and my mission is to choose five terms and define them with their links

CONCEPTUAL MAPS: is a type of graphic organizer and structure the contents of a topic that used to help to someone to organize and to have a general idea of it. First of all, the concept map begins with the main idea (in boxes or circles, with different colors…) and with narrows or lines goes down and then the sub ideas of that topic. In the map we see concepts or a phrase very short or that phrase structure. The objective of this conceptual map is has the technique for visualizing the relations between the ideas and it is easier to understand, more comfortable and help to people that are frighten to read big paragraphs.

To build a conceptual map we must to start with the main idea or topic that it is focused in, secondly determine the key concepts and finally connecting concepts.

LOE:  this new law organize, structure and delimit all the function of the Educational System including the education’s goals, the organization of the education, the teachers, schools, the inspections, the economic resources, etc. and the attention to the diversity of pupils.

The basic education is divided in two: primary school and secondary education (obligatory) where children between six and sixteen years old must go obligatory to the school and without paying. It determines the education which is no obligatory, like “Bachillerato” and “Formación profesional”.

LOMCE: this law is for the improvement of the educational quality, and this one was founded with the change of the last law (LOE).

Curriculum: for education, the curriculum is the planned of the knowledge, contents, material, tools, methods and process for evaluating if the objectives have been accomplish the objectives. Depending on how educators define or employ the term, the curriculum refers to the knowledge and skills that student are expected to learn.

An individual teacher’s curriculum would be what he/she has to teach to their students, the lessons which he/she must explain, assignments and materials used to organize for a particular course. For a teacher is very difficult to explain and do everything that is in the curriculum, in the sense that the teacher has not enough time to explain everything or to do everything what is in the curriculum.

Inspiration 9: is a program for the computer that is useful for education to make conceptual maps and provides several visual thinking and learning products. It permits the graphic representation of a topic and it is very easy to understand.

These week I´ve been the translator and I think that these final part has to summary the basic things that we must have in mind when we work in some activities. So after a great time thinking I get in the conclusion that these are the basic words that we should know in order to reach our goals.

WEB 2.0 TOOL

A web 2.0 tool is the one which allows people to create, publish and share information on the internet without any knowledge of technical tools.

INNOVATION

The process of making changes to something established by introducing something new. We need to have in mind that nowadays, technology is a significant driver behind change, and sometimes plays an important role in innovations in educational design and delivery.

PROJECT

An individual or collaborative enterprise that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim.

EXPECTATION

It can be define as a believing that something is going to happen or that something should be in a certain way.

SKILL

Is the learned ability to carry out a task with pre-determined results often within a given amount of time, energy, or both.

My role as the translator is very interesting, because I have to think about how can I explain our work in only five important words, so I have to read the contents and take the basic ideas to join them and summarise.

I´m very glad with the final result of these week, we have learnt how to use Moovly and hoy to summarize our work in only a small video.

NOW LET'S DO OUR DUTIES FOR THIS WEEK. 

After a while thinking and thinking and thinking and thinking and thinking....OMG!!! What a thought!  Ok let's be serious. After a while thinking on mi 5 concepts for this week, I've got to the conclusion that I wanted to tell the idea of "Dark side of textbooks" by using concepts that by isolating then you can even appreciate de "Clear side of textbooks" but when you are putting then all together you can see the real truth.

We'll do it by steps, first one: The definition provided by Cambridge Dictionary.

1-GOVERNMENT: The group of people who officially controls a country

2-MARKET: the people who might want to buy something, or a part of the world where something is sold the business or trade in a particular product, including financial products

3-PUBLISHER: an organization that publishes text or music

4-BIAS(sesgo): the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment

5-TEXBOOKS: a book that contains detailed information about a subject for people who are studying that subject

Ok. Now think about the 5 concepts and try to find out something negative....................have you fond something?.......... I don't think so............ these terms separately are harmless but, what happen if we put them all together?

The GOVERNMENT as a group of people, who officially control the country, encourages the MARKET as this is the engine of the economy and is formed by people who might want to buy or trade something in a particular context. In the other hand there is the PUBLISHER who are organization that publishes text or music, this organizations depend of the marker to raise their incomes and for that reason they embed on their BOOKS productions a political BIAS (sesgos) in order to satisfy the government interest and also to get benefits and good position on the market. as markets are controlled in some part by the government.

Now probably you have a mess in your mind...

This week, I am the translator. Although it seems that the translator is the work easier. I think that I have a great responsibility, because I have had to summarize the activity of this week in only 5 words. So, it requires good criteria. Among other many things we have learned, I have been able to summarize this activity in these 5 words:

Good presentation. A presentation is a useful tool to explain a topic. However, it is not too easy doing it well. To it would be attractive, interesting, striking, etc. it must have the correct colors, size, pictures, etc. it must be very visual, simple, innovative, creative and above all adapted according to the audience.

Creativity. Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness. Between these characteristics we find quality, exclusivity and originality. It must be trained since children. For this reason, schools should encourage its development with actions where children can express their art´s love, their feelings freely, without any fear or modesty.

Free Culture. When we mention free culture, it means how the access to culture would be. It should be free, fast, and easy. Learning and knowing neither cost neither many nor it would be difficult giving it. Nowadays, it exits some tools which let this free access. The example clearer is Internet, but in particular, we have learned one new this week: Creative Commons licenses.

Creative Commons (CC). Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that it allows to use and to share both creativity and knowledge through copyright licenses, which the author choose the use that people can do with it depending on authors had chosen before. There are different kinds of licenses that determine the use that you can do.

Recycle. Everything we have learned, we have expressed in a presentation by the topic: Recycling. Recycle consists on taking old materials and break them down, so that they can be used to create new and useful again. Maybe it seems boring. However, we can find several funny uses, activities, etc. that can develop your creativity, your artistic live, and so on. So at the same time that you are protecting the environment, you are learning and developing funny things... ALL ARE ADVANTAGES!

Well, this has been my work as translator. I have to say this week has been more relax because we have had a week to reform our blog, and to be honest, we needed it. Now, we have the clear ideas, know more or less all functions of each role, we have well structured our blog, so we have already got the correct direction to carry out this subject. Although, guiding this subject has been a bit hard, now we have the better wishes and hope to pass this subject successfully.

Webquest:

Is a resource that allows teachers to create a sequence of research work and / or collaborative between him and his students. The tool offers several alternatives Webquest working from a sequence of simple research to a more elaborate , allowing teachers create links to other websites of interest and research is needed regarding the materials and content necessary for students. To sum up 
It is a research activity where the information that learners interact with comes from all or part of the Internet resources.

Miniquest:

Consist of a version of WebQuests is reduced to only three steps: Scenario , Task and Product . There are three types: MiniQuest Discovery , which is held at the beginning of a curriculum unit and designed to present the said unit / students , MiniQuest Exploration carried out in the course of a curriculum unit and is directed learn the content needed to understand a particular concept or to fulfill a curricular objective and MiniQuest Completion , which develop at the end of a curricular unit and consists of a number of key questions.

Cartographic  Projection:

The projection is a graphical drawing technique used to represent an object on a surface. The figure is obtained using auxiliary lines projecting that, starting from a point called the focus, reflect the object in a plane, like a shadow.

Treasure Hunt:

Is a game in which the organizers prepare a list defining specific items, which the participants (individuals or teams ) seek to gather all items on the list ,usually without purchasing them  or perform tasks or take photographs of the items, as specified. The goal is usually to be the first to complete the list, although in a variation on the game players can also be challenged to complete the tasks on the list in the most creative manner.

Distortion:
Distorsion is defined as the difference between reality and what is created from a method, machine or apparatus. Therefore, it can be defined as "Warp" suffered a signal after passing through a system.

My job this week was to choose five terms that have helped us to a better understand of our work.

The terms that I have chosen are the following ones:

Information and communications technology (ICT): are those technologies that allow you to transmit, process and disseminate information instantly.

They have lots of contributions: they allow an easy access to a vast source of information; they have a high storage capacity, automation of work…

And they also have lots of advantages: potentially enhance the quality of life of individuals, they cause the emergence of new professions and markets and also less trees need to be cut down to make paper, and more forests can be saved.

Mind Maps: We have come to the conclusion that a mind maps it’s an attractive, intuitive and creative way to express, organize and present ideas.

We can make mind maps by hand or using computer programs, made for it.

Mind maps have a lot of advantages, apart the obvious advantages of saving space and time and enjoyment that can provide the process of making them. It also stimulates creativity and memorization.

Mind mapping has lots of applications like in autocatalysis, making decisions solving conflicts, language learning…

It has also application in health like helping people with dyslexia, like we can see in one research made by Georgina Kenyon where it says that "Dyslexics have to devise a new strategy to wire that circuit board completely. And mind mapping can assist dyslexics as it can consist solely of images."

Pre-service Teacher Education: is the education and training provided to student teachers before they have undertaken any teaching.

The pre-service training is the formal training received by teachers before starting to practice the profession, while in-service training generally refers to non-formal training is carried out on site working.

A Pre-Service Teacher is student teacher who has not yet completed training to be a teacher. Before enrolling into any pre-service education, most students obtain a previous degree either a general or honours in a subject of their choice.

In-Service Teacher Training: Teacher training is conceived as a continuous process, intentional and systematic because it integrates and coordinates all elements that interact interdependently.

The directionality of this process points to the teacher as the centre of action in three dimensions of development: personal, social and professional dimension.

It is intended that the shares of continuous training to strengthen the construction of their identity and their leadership and professional education, to commit yourself, your school community in which he works and the country, through a responsible and ethical behaviour in the classroom, the school and the community.

Open educational resources (OER): Open educational resources are the resources that are available for free and that can be used for teaching, learning, or research. It includes textbooks, reading books, games and other learning aplications; and basically any other material that can be used for educational purposes.

Open educational resources refer to electronic resources and such materials that are generally released under a free license that supports an open use of the content. It involves all the educational resources that people share for free.

The promotion of open educational resources is mainly motivated by the will to stop the modification of knowledge.
